The Bekaa Valley region located on plateau between Lebanon’s two mountain ranges is a rich natural treasure to discover. The Bekaa region is home to agricultural lands, the country’s best wineries and vineyards, and historical monuments such as the Baalbak ancient Roman temple and the Anjar historic citadel.
Lebanon enjoys weather that clearly defines its four seasons. The summers are long and hot, and usually precipitation free. The winter is the main rainy season, and snow falls in the mountains at high altitudes. Spring and autumn are temperate with little rain.
The official language in Lebanon is Arabic, but French and English are widely spoken by a majority of the population. The currency is the Lebanese Pound (Lira), but U.S. dollars are also accepted throughout the country’s hotels, restaurants and stores. The exchange rate has been relatively stable at around 1,500 Lebanese pounds for US$1. Lebanon time is GMT plus 2 hours in winter (October to March) and GMT plus 3 hours in summer (April to September) when daylight savings time is observed. The telephone country code is 961.
